What Maatram is

Maatram is a free, open-source screen-time and focus platform built by students at SSVM School of Excellence. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it. The full source code is public on GitHub if you want to check for yourself.

Data we collect

Account data: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google to create your Maatram account.

Your Maatram profile (Firestore): when you sign in, your user record stores your name, profile photo, points, lifetime points, last login time, the current monthly cycle and the time of your last points award, plus an archive of each past month's points. Nothing else about you is stored in Firestore.

Sports Corner listings: if you sign in and list an event, we store its title, sport, city, date, venue, organiser, registration link, the time it was created and your user ID as the author. Listings are visible to signed-in users on the Sports Corner page. If you let the browser share your location, it is only used on your device to pick the nearest city; your coordinates are not sent to us.

Study Rooms: room names, avatars, chat messages, timer state and strike events are sent through a public MQTT relay (broker.emqx.io) so everyone in the room sees them live. The room code acts as the channel, so anyone who knows the code can see that traffic. They are not stored in Firestore. Do not share personal information in Study Room chat.

Wellness: your meal-plan answers, 7-day plan and daily checks stay in your browser on this device. Only the points you earn from the daily checks are added to your Maatram points.

Linked devices: if you link devices, the lock's end time, length and which device started it are stored in our database under your link code. Nothing else is attached to the code.

Focuz chat: questions you type are sent to an AI provider (Google Gemini, NVIDIA or Vercel AI Gateway) to write the answer. Maatram does not save them.

Feedback form: messages are delivered to our email by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co).

We do not collect payment information, location history, contacts, or anything from apps outside Maatram itself.

Maatram Hard Lock Chrome extension (optional): while installed, it counts the minutes you spend on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, X and Facebook in Chrome (only while that tab is active, Chrome is focused and you are not idle). It cannot see any other website. The minute totals are kept in the extension's local storage for 35 days and are only passed to maatram.co.in on your own computer when you open the Stats page, where they stay in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers.

Site analytics (Microsoft Clarity): on maatram.co.in we use Microsoft Clarity to see, without names, how pages are used — clicks, scrolls and anonymised session replays — so we can fix confusing parts of the site. Text you type is masked and never recorded. Clarity sets its own cookies; see Microsoft's privacy statement.

Site analytics (Vercel): the site is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which record page views and page-load performance so we can see which pages are used and how fast they load. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Where it's stored

Your sign-in (Google account email, name and photo) is handled by Firebase Authentication, and your profile and Sports Corner listings live in Google Firebase Firestore; both are third-party services run by Google. Your name, photo and points are visible to other signed-in users on the Leaderboard. Screen-time figures you type into the Stats page, timer sessions and streaks, App Gate and Hard Lock activity (except a linked-device lock time), your Wellness plan and checks, and settings such as Performance mode or theme are stored only in your browser's local storage and are not uploaded.

How we use it

Solely to run the product: show your points and rank, sync study rooms live, list sports events, and remember your preferences. We do not sell data, run ads, or share it with advertisers. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Your choices

You can sign out at any time from the account menu. To delete your account and data, email maatram97 (at) gmail.com and we'll remove your Firestore record. Because Maatram is open source, you can also self-host it with your own Firebase project if you'd rather keep your data entirely under your own control.

Children & students

Maatram is built for students and may be used by users under 18. Other people only see what is described above: your name, photo and points on the Leaderboard if you sign in, anything you post in a Study Room while others share your room code, and any Sports Corner event you list.

Changes to this policy
