What Maatram is

Maatram is a free, open-source screen-time and focus platform built by students at SSVM School of Excellence. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it. The full source code is public on GitHub if you want to check for yourself.

Data we collect

Account data: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google to create your Maatram account.

Activity data: productivity points, streaks, timer sessions, App Gate and Hard Lock activity, study-room participation, and any screen-time figures you enter manually. This data drives your stats, leaderboard rank and streaks.

Sports Corner: events you register or add, and your city (from browser geolocation, if you allow it, used only to find nearby events).

We do not collect payment information, location history, contacts, or anything from apps outside Maatram itself — Maatram has no Chrome extension and does not read your device's real usage data unless you type it in yourself.

Where it's stored

Account and activity data lives in Google Firebase (Firestore + Authentication), a third-party service. Some settings (like your Performance-mode preference or theme choice) are stored only in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.

How we use it

Solely to run the product: show your points and rank, sync study rooms live, remember your preferences, and let parents/teachers linked through a class code see the dashboards those roles are meant to see. We do not sell data, run ads, or share it with advertisers. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Your choices

You can sign out at any time from the account menu. To delete your account and data, email maatram97@gmail.com and we'll remove your Firestore record. Because Maatram is open source, you can also self-host it with your own Firebase project if you'd rather keep your data entirely under your own control.

Children & students

Maatram is built for students and may be used by users under 18. Parents and teachers can join a class using a code shared by the student — no student data is shared with a parent/teacher account unless the student's own class code is used to link them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and note it on the Updates page. Questions? Email maatram97@gmail.com.
